Founded by artist Palapala (Barbara) Chung, Palapala Designs is a small company based in Maui, Hawaii. Barbara designs and carves original blockprints of Hawaiian motifs and subjects, combining them with contemporary form and function.
The images depicted are flora and fauna found on the islands, or subjects related to important aspects of Hawaiian culture. The colors are taken from the natural palette of the islands– shades of green, blue, brown, tan, and orange– and compliment almost any interior decorating scheme. Our products match well with fine hardwoods, especially Hawaiian Koa.
