One Score and Half a Dozen ‐ A Collection of Songs, Stories, & Pictures
This book and CD set is unlike any Hawaiian songbook published before! Featuring 26 Hawaiian songs, each with lyrics, score, chords and professional recording, this set is a complete reference for musicians of all skill levels. Noelani Mahoe painstakingly researched the composers and fascinating stories behind many of the songs, making this book a delight.
As a dedicated musician and teacher, Aunty Noe taught ʻukulele, music and hula across the islands. She spent many years assisting in developing music and cultural curriculum for the DOE kūpuna program. She worked closely with a variety of organizations dedicated to bringing Hawaiian music to the forefront, including the Hawaii Visitors Bureau and George Kanahele’s Hawaiian Music Foundation. Aunty Noe has also written several resource and song books for children, and collaborated with Samuel H. Elbert on the classic Na Mele o Hawai’i Nei, 101 Hawaiian Songs.
All proceeds from Hōʻahu ʻAna O Nā Mele will benefit the Lunalilo Home, as a mahalo from Aunty Noe for the kindness shown her mother, who was a resident at the Home until her passing.
