A modern Hawaiian boy playing music in the old-school style with a contemporary feel. If you like, jazz, r&b, and/or folk then you will like how Kapono Na`ili`ili infuses these styles into Hawaiian music as he shares his debut solo album Ala Iki.
The CD contains a blend of classics (“Sanoe,” by Queen Liliʻuokalani), favorites (“Beautiful Kauaʻi” by Rudolph “Randy” Haleakala Farden) and songs by beloved composers such as Johnny Almeida, Kainani Kahaunaele, Charles E. King, and Lena Machado.
His performance on lead vocals as well as lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, and percussion deliver a fresh interpretation of Hawaiian classics.
